Halloween celebrity crush: Katie Walder

Photographers are always encouraged to contact me at

This Halloween entry's a bit of a stretch, with an episode of Supernatural to her credit -- but it's very early in her career.

Name: Katie Walder (images | YouTube channel | Facebook fan page | Twitter)
Hometown: Huntingdon Valley, Pa., according to her IMDB profile. (Couldn't find a Wikipedia page for her.)
Best Known For: Katie's longest TV gig was two seasons of Gilmore Girls, playing the roommate to Alexis Bledel's Rory Gilmore in eight episodes from 2003-05, according to IMDB. Before that, she spent some time (IMDB is very vague on this) on daytime soap All My Children.

Recent guest appearances include the sitcom Mad Love (starring fellow crush Sarah Chalke) and Supernatural, as the personification of Fate in an episode about what might happen if the Titanic had never sunk.

Film roles are smaller in number but include the comedy Extreme Movie and a mixture of indie features and TV-movies.
Humble Beginnings: Katie took to acting early, IMDB notes, appearing in school plays and musicals as a child. She also modeled, appearing in Teen and YM magazines. The daytime soap gig altered her plans for graduate-level acting study at Yale University but allowed her to do plays on Broadway, which is not so bad a trade-off at all. The bio also notes that her Gilmore Girls job came along within a couple of months of her moving to Los Angeles.

Other guest roles over the years include a couple of episodes of How I Met Your Mother (perhaps as the same character?), the standard crime dramas (Without a Trace, Cold Case, CSI: Miami, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), and appearances on TNT's short-lived advertising dramedy Trust Me and the pilot of The Good Wife.
On Supernatural as Fate, holding a book telling
who was supposed to be dead -- or never have been
born -- by this date in time, and trying to fix it.
Obligatory Edgy Stuff: No Wikipedia page? Definitely in the Witness Protection Program.
Why Ye Olde Podcaster Likes Her: Less ethereal in her beauty than, say, Jessy Schram (Falling Skies), she nonetheless shares a certain undefinable "girl who visited next door that one time but you found yourself incapable of making any intelligible sounds when you tried to talk to her and you spent the rest of your adolescence wishing she'd return so you could prove you weren't a total idiot" quality with her and with fellow crushes Jessica Collins (Rubicon), Jennifer Finnigan (lots of shows), and next week's celebrity crush, Marla Sokoloff (The Practice). Or maybe that's just me.

She doesn't LOOK like the
cold, calculating, murderous hand
of Fate. Kinda added to the
effect on Supernatural.
She was a lot of fun on Supernatural as Fate, teaching the Winchester brothers a thing or two.
