Revised celebrity crush: Jessy Schram

Photographers are invited to contact me -- e-mail mentalnomadshow -at-

Here's a revised entry for a lovely young actress and sometime singer who's been seen this summer on the science fiction drama Falling Skies.

Name: Jessy Schram (images | Web site | MySpace music page | Twitter)
Hometown: The Chicago suburb of Skokie, Ill., according to her Wikipedia entry. She was signed with a local talent agency by age 10 for modeling and acting work, singing competitively by 14, the profile notes.
Best Known For: Jessy's major television work has come with a regular role on TNT's Falling Skies, alongside fellow crushes Moon Bloodgood and Sarah Carter. Previously she's held recurring roles on the short-lived crime drama Life and the high school noir series Veronica Mars (which of course starred fellow crush Kristen Bell and saw Tina Majorino, Amanda Seyfried and Alona Tal in recurring roles as well).

On Falling Skies, fighting aliens and looking good doing it.
Film work includes the science fiction drama Unstoppable and a direct-to-DVD American Pie movie.
Humble Beginnings: In addition to TV commercial work, she's appeared in several made-for-TV Jane Doe mysteries. Her lengthy list of television guest-star credits includes appearances on Boston Legal, The Mentalist, Medium (as a younger Patricia Arquette), CSI: Miami, Saving Grace, and three episodes of Crash on Starz.
As a dark brunette with an even
darker past on the beautiful but
short-lived crime drama Life.
The Courteney Cox Factor: Jessy appeared in a music video for "A Beautiful End" (a song I've never heard) by J.R. Richards (an artist I've never heard of)...
Not the Courteney Cox Factor: ... And she wrote and sang a song called "Fairy Tale Love" for one of the Jane Doe TV mystery movies, IMDB notes. That and a few other songs are posted at her MySpace music page.
Why Ye Olde Podcaster Likes Her: It's half physical, half talent. Jessy reminds me a bit of fellow celebrity crush Jena Malone not only in the face but also in the "old soul" demeanor -- and her similarity to fellow crush Brittany Snow (particularly both actresses' hypnotic blue eyes) prompted a thread at IMDB asking if they were relatives. While she's not a physically imposing actress -- though IMDB puts her height around 5'6," so she's taller than Hayden Panettiere (5'2", per IMDB) or Kristen Bell (5'1", per IMDB) -- she's proven in Life and Falling Skies that she can bring a presence that exceeds her stature to gritty characters while being no less beautiful for it.

Whereas there's absolutely nothing dark or twisty
