Celebrity crush: Anna Torv

Here's another actress who was previously featured in a multi-celebrity entry. Amazon and iTunes links follow. Any affiliate payments earned from your purchase or rental will help pay the hosting fees for my podcasts, so please consider clicking.

Name: Anna Torv (images | Web site | Twitter)
Hometown: Melbourne, Australia, according to her Wikipedia entry.
Best Known For: Torv has a leading role on the Fox science fiction drama Fringe as a buttoned-down FBI agent and glammed up for a guest appearance in HBO's World War II miniseries The Pacific as an actress selling war bonds.
Humble Beginnings: Torv appeared on the BBC series Mistresses and voiced the main character in the video game Heavenly Sword.
Obligatory Edgy Stuff: An aunt was married for years to NewsCorp boss Rupert Murdoch, arguably the single most destructive human being in the world through the effects of his right-wing media machine. Not her fault or any reflection on her, of course.
Why Ye Olde Podcaster Likes Her: She brings a great mixture of toughness, compassion, and even humor to her character on Fringe and showed a whole other side on The Pacific -- and I'm not talking about the nudity, but rather that she was almost unrecognizable as the same actress. She's the real deal. (That said, the nudity was nice, as was the near-nudity when Esquire named her a Woman We Love.)
Film and TV-movie credits: Fringe: Cast and Creators Live at Paley (Amazon | iTunes) * Frankenstein (2007 TV-movie) (Amazon | iTunes) * The Book of Revelation (Amazon | iTunes) * Travelling Light (Amazon | iTunes) * White Collar Blue (Amazon | iTunes)
It wasn't easy to find a photo of her smiling.
Voice work: Heavenly Sword (Amazon)
TV and Web series credits: Fringe, season 3 (Amazon | iTunes) * The Pacific: "Peleliu Landing" (Amazon | iTunes) * Fringe, season 2 (Amazon | iTunes) * Fringe, season 1 (Amazon | iTunes) * Mistresses, season 1 (Amazon | iTunes) * The Secret Life of Us, season 4 (Amazon | iTunes) * McLeod's Daughters, season 4 (Amazon | iTunes) * Young Lions (Amazon | iTunes)
