Celebrity crush: Melissa George

Today's celebrity crush profile shines the spotlight on one of Australia's finest imports to America. Amazon and iTunes links follow. Any affiliate payments earned from your purchase or rental will help pay the hosting fees for my podcasts, so please consider clicking.

Name: Melissa George (images -- some NSFW)
Hometown: She was raised in Perth, Western Australia, according to her Wikipedia profile.
Best Known For: She's not quite a household name, but she's been seen here and there. Film work includes David Lynch's mindfuck Mulholland Drive and the artsy dystopian mindfuck Dark City (hmmm, there's a trend there), plus horror roles in Turistas, 30 Days of Night, and the remake of The Amityville Horror (alongside fellow celebrity crush Rachel Nichols). TV work includes Grey's Anatomy, In Treatment, and Lie to Me, plus shorter stints on Friends and Alias.
Humble Beginnings: By looking at her, you might suspect she is a former model, and you'd be right. Melissa started modeling as a teenager and landed on the Aussie soap Home and Away for three years. She was also a successful competitive roller skater in her youth. Her feature film debut was in Dark City, and she debuted on American television alongside Heath Ledger on the short-lived fantasy series Roar.
Obligatory Edgy Stuff: She isn't adverse to nudity -- she did nude magazine shots shortly after she turned 18, and was nude in Dark City, among other things. And that's OK, because I'm not adverse to her being nude.
Why Ye Olde Podcaster Likes Her: But it's not JUST that sex appeal that oozes from every inch of her. Her work in the first season of HBO's In Treatment (adapted from an Israeli drama) was breathtaking -- by turns seductive, cruel, manipulative, vulnerable, confident and defensive. She was a lot of fun on Grey's Anatomy, too, in her very short time there.

Celebrity crush: Krysten Ritter

And we're back with another new entry, this one featuring an unconventional cutie whose credits include Veronica Mars, Gravity, and Breaking Bad. Amazon and iTunes links follow. Any affiliate payments earned from your purchase or rental will help pay the hosting fees for my podcasts, so please consider clicking.

Name: Krysten Ritter (images | Web site | Twitter)
Hometown: Krysten grew up on a beef farm near Shickshinny, Pa., according to her Wikipedia profile.
Best Known For: Her highest-profile television work so far has probably been on Breaking Bad, where she played a landlady and eventual girlfriend to a junior meth cooker. Film roles include Confessions of a Shopaholic, 27 Dresses and She's Out of My League.
The Courteney Cox Factor: In 2000, she appeared in the video for "Waffle" by Sevendust.
Humble Beginnings: As noted above, she grew up on a beef farm. A modeling scout spotted her when she was 15; at 18, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in the field. Early film roles included playing a student in the Julia Roberts Dead Poets Society pale imitator Mona Lisa Smile. It sounds like she's poised to really take off, with future projects placing her alongside Alicia Silverstone, Sigourney Weaver, Rachel Bilson, and Kate Bosworth.
Missed Opportunities?: Ritter appeared alongside future celebrity crush entrant Brittany Snow in a flashback episode of Gossip Girl that was intended as a backdoor pilot to a spinoff series that never came to pass (and which included a tie-in to show producer Josh Schwartz's former series The O.C. to boot).
Why Ye Olde Podcaster Likes Her: She's got a smokin' little body and, after having played a cipher on Veronica Mars, won me over to her acting skills on Gossip Girl (don't judge me) and Breaking Bad.

Celebrity crush: Clémence Poésy (new!!!)

First one of these in a long time. No promises how regularly I'll be able to do these or anything else in the future, but I'm out of school for a month, so there should be time to post and pre-publish some content. And, ideally, to update some previous entries with new credits.

Amazon and iTunes links follow. Any affiliate payments earned from your purchase or rental will help pay the hosting fees for my podcasts, so please consider clicking. (Note: Some of the French-language works available on DVD are not available in the Region 1 format used for American players, but if you have an all-regions player, you might be able to watch them.)

Name: Clémence Poésy (images -- some NSFW)
Hometown: The Paris suburb of Muedon, France, according to her Wikipedia profile.
Best Known For: Clemence's biggest English-speaking role is that of sorceress Fleur Delacour in the Harry Potter movies. More recently, she's appeared on the fourth season of Gossip Girl as Eva Coupeau, who nursed bad boy Chuck Bass back to health after he was shot at the end of season three.
Luckiest. Photographer. EVER.
Humble Beginnings: Early work in English-speaking productions include portraying Mary, Queen of Scots, in the British telefilm Gunpowder, Treason, and Plot -- which is not so humble. She's also done modeling work.
Obligatory Edgy Stuff: Well, she's French, so there's that. She's also not adverse to on-screen nudity (which is a nice coincidence, since I'm not adverse to her being nude). And she's appeared this season on Gossip Girl. Her Wikipedia bio also makes allusions to her describing herself as "maladjusted" in her youth, including a stint at an alternative high school.
Why Ye Olde Podcaster Likes Her: It's partly the lips, it's partly the bustiness, it's partly the voice. She's an alluring Frenchwoman. Does that make me shallow? I dunno, but at least I'm honest. She also sometimes reminds me of fellow celebrity crush Amber Benson at times.
