The Midday Distraction #75: Val Davis

Here's some acoustic rock courtesy of a Magnatune artist.

Here's what you'll hear today (right-click to download MP3 or to open in a new tab or window):
  • Val Davis: "Immortal"
  • Val Davis: "All Over the World"
(Total play time: 11:40)

Tomorrow will be a longer Midday Distraction in honor of St. Patrick's Day (but cliche-free). Please consider buying something below or contributing through the Paypal link at left -- I'll be out of a job soon and need your help to keep these shows going.

Edward Clark became Texas' governor this day in 1861, after Sam Houston was thrown out of office for refusing to take an oath of loyalty to the Confederate States of America.

(So Houston was dismissed for showing insufficient loyalty to people engaged in treason. Interesting. We should still give Texas back to Mexico, maybe throw in Mississippi, Utah, and a few other Republican states for good measure.)

John Poindexter were indicted on charges of conspiring to defraud the U.S. this day in 1988; however, since they were Republicans, and since all things are permissible if one is a Republican, both are seen as heroes by the right, not as men who armed terrorists in the Iran-Contra Affair, and North gets to speak for big bucks at Christian colleges. American peace activist Rachel Corrie was killed by Israeli forces this day in 2003.
